The front page has disappeared as the above-the-fold photos are those of autistic children, boat-building schools and other such feel-good pieces – but feel-goods are simply not news. Washington, D.C., is burning and we get touchy-feely lifestyle pieces on the front page.
Real news is buried in the middle of the A section and often is continued at the back of the Sports section, when it should run on the front page and continue in the same section. More than one reader in the family means that different people are reading different sections and continuing an article becomes difficult.
Full pages are given over to disguised ads for different shopping venues in the area and afield and are mostly a waste of trees. What happened to real news-gathering and real reporting? Please, just give us news – unfiltered, unspun and properly edited.
