Schenck High School,

East Millinocket

Principal Pamela J. Hamilton of Schenck High School in East Millinocket has announced honor parts for the Class of 2007.

Jayme Lynn Cram, daughter of Robert and Janet Cram of Medway, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2007. She plans to attend Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor to study medical radiography.

She participated in softball, as soccer manager, Foreign Language Club, peer counselor, student council, National Honor Society, pep band, Girls State representative, drama club, math team, musical-play cast member and is captain of her softball team and vice president of her senior class. She has received her CPR certification and has worked as a lifeguard and playground assistant for the Recreation Department, along with other volunteer work.

Kayla Mae Osborne, daughter of Ken and Sally Osborne of East Millinocket, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2007. She will attend Husson College in Bangor to study physical therapy.

She was the Maine Principal’s Award recipient for Schenck High School and the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award.

She has been active all four years in basketball, softball, and cross country, in which she received Most Valuable Player in cross country for two years, and for one year in softball, along with other athletic awards.

She has participated in the National Honor Society, peer counseling, math team, yearbook, foreign language club and student council. She has worked as a playground assistant for the recreation department.

Osborne is active in her church choir and is on a women’s bowling team. She has done volunteer work for the Ronald MacDonald House, benefit suppers, sports clinics and U.S. Rep. Michael Michaud. She holds certification in CPR, fire safety, first aid and as a certified nurse’s assistant.

Thomas Scott Cote, son of Donald and Sherri Pelkey of East Millinocket, has been named first honor essayist for the Class of 2007. He plans to attend Bowdoin College in Brunswick.

He has been a member of the math team, jazz band, show choir, pep band, cross-country team, and the drama department, where he has had lead roles in play productions. He was also active in the pit band for the musicals.

Cote attended the New England Leadership Conference in Vermont during his junior year. He has been active with the Maine Upward Bound Program and has done volunteer work for Leonard’s Mill and the Bangor Beautiful Project. He has worked at the River Driver’s Restaurant and is a founding member of a student band, 10 Gauge Insanity, in which he plays guitar.

Kyle Lawrence Leathers, son of Robert and Francine Leathers of East Millinocket, has been named second honor essayist for the Class of 2007. He will attend Emerson College in Boston to study journalism.

He has received the Williams College Book Award, is a member of the National Honor Society and is president of the senior class.

He has worked at Hannaford in Millinocket and has been a volunteer campaign worker for Rep. Michael Michaud. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts and has worked as an assistant patrol leader for his troop.

Brianne Elizabeth Smith, daughter of Steve and Patti Smith of East Millinocket, has been named third honor essayist for the Class of 2007. She will attend Thomas College in Waterville to study accounting.

She has participated in the National Honor Society, student council, yearbook, peer counseling, District V band, soccer, softball, band and pep band and is treasurer for the senior class. She received her CPR, first aid and water safety instruction certification.

Smith has worked for the East Millinocket Recreation Department and the Millinocket Regional Hospital as a swim instructor.

Foxcroft Academy

Raymond Webb, Head of School at Foxcroft Academy, has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2007. Graduation will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 10. Baccalaureate will be held prior to graduation at 1:30 p.m.

Brittany Rockwell, daughter of Russell and Angela Rockwell of Sebec, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2007. She plans to attend the University of Maine at Augusta to study dental assisting.

She is active in her congregation, where she gives her time to many activities. At Foxcroft Academy, she is a member of the National Honor Society; the Latin, Spanish and photography clubs; and is a manager of the canoe club. She has been involved with Peer Helping and horseback riding. She is a 2007 Rose Award recipient and has been awarded a Sam Walton Community Scholarship.

Jodi Randall, daughter of Alan and Lou-Ann Randall of Sebec, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2007. She will attend Boston University to study biological sciences and-or psychology.

She is a member of the Upward Bound program at the University of Maine, is vice president of the National Honor Society and a 2007 Rose Award recipient.

Orono High School

Principal Bruce Bailey has announced that Emily Balaban-Garber, Zhen Zhang, and Lisa Batuski were selected by their classmates to be student speakers at the 2007 commencement activities at Orono High School. Graduation will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at the high school gymnasium. Commencement speaker will be Baron Wormser, former poet laureate of Maine.

Emily Balaban-Garber, daughter of Drs. Julie Balaban and Alan Garber, will give the welcome address. She will attend Bowdoin College.

Zhen Zhang, son of Yurui Zhen and Donglin Zhang, will deliver the graduation farewell. He will attend Harvard University.

Lisa Batuski, daughter of Shellie and David Batuski, spoke at the Sunday, June 3, baccalaureate. She will attend Simmons College.

Dustin Nevells, son of Teri Nevells and Mark Nevells, was voted as class marshal. He will attend Husson College.
