Recalls

Cribs, bicycles

The following recalls have been announced:

. About 40,000 Nursery-in-a-Box cribs, manufactured by Simplicity Inc., because the assembly instructions incorrectly explain how to attach the drop side. If improperly attached, the drop side could disengage from the crib and put a child inside at risk of falling or getting trapped.

In addition, the pins on the drop side can fall off and pose a choking hazard. The company has received one report of incorrect instructions being included in a crib’s packaging. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has received one report of metal pins detaching from the drop side, which was installed upside down and fell from the upright position. Details: by phone at 800-784-1982; by Web at http:///www.simplicityforchildren.com or http:///www.cpsc.gov.

. About 2,900 select models of bicycles with carbon cranksets, imported by Cannondale Bicycle Corp., because the bicycle’s crankset could break and users could fall off the bike. Cannondale has received two reports of the cranksets breaking resulting in one minor injury.

. Cranksets are the gears at the front of the bicycle chain. Pedals are attached to the outer ends. They were used on the following models:

. road bikes: Synapse Carbon SL1 compact drive; Ironman 1 Si carbon standard drive; System 6 Team 1 compact drive and standard drive; System 6 Team 3 compact drive and standard drive; and Cyclocross SLl 1 compact drive.

. 2007 mountain bikes: Taurine 1 SL; and Rush Carbon 2.

. 2007 framesets and cranksets: Synapse SL Si; System 6 Team SI; Ironman 613 SL; CAAD 9 Cyclocross Si; and all carbon Si road and mountain cranksets.

. 2008 road bikes: System 6 Liquigas 3 compact and standard drive.

Cannondale dealers nationwide sold the bikes from June 2006 though May 2007. The dealers will inspect the cranksets and determine whether a free replacement is needed. Details: by phone at 800-245-3872; by Web at http:///www.cpsc.gov.
