Central High School, Corinth
Principal Garry Spencer has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2007 at Central High School.
Chantel Randall, daughter of Gregory and Shellie Randall of Bradford, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2007. She plans to study civil engineering at the University of Maine.
She was inducted into the National Honor Society as a junior and is serving as president during her senior year. She is a member of the prom committee, Project Adventure, Project Graduation, has worked on the school newspaper, served two years as a class officer and has been selected to receive the Principal’s Award.
Randall participated in varsity basketball, varsity field hockey, varsity cheerleading and varsity softball. She was selected to the PVC softball first and second teams, all-academic and PVC second team in field hockey and participated in the Hawaiian Tourney Softball Sport Team her senior year. She has volunteered for the American Red Cross, Corinth Old Home Days, participated in the MS Walk, breast cancer walk and donated to Treats for Troops.
Elizabeth Janelle Dauphinee, daughter of Mark and Melody Dauphinee of Corinth, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2007. She plans to study business management at Husson College.
She was inducted into the National Honor Society as a junior and is serving as senior class secretary. She is a member of the prom committee, Project Adventure, works on the school newspaper and has served on the student council.
Dauphinee has participated in Girls State, band, varsity track, varsity cheerleading and varsity hockey. She was selected to the PVC first team for track and PVC first team field hockey. She has volunteered at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Corinth Old Home Days and Pee Wee Cheerleading clinics and participated in the MS Walk and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
Penobscot Valley High School, Howland
Principal Carol Marcinkus, has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2007 at Penobscot Valley High School. Commencement exercises will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, in the George Sereyko Memorial Gymnasium.
Margaret Metzler, daughter of Eric and Carolyn Metzler of Enfield, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2007. She will attend Smith College of Northampton, Mass., and participate in the liberal studies program.
She has participated in the National Honor Society, honors banquet for three years, District V Honors Festival, All-State Music Festival, band, chorus, civil rights team, American Field Service, community theater, the Oratorio Society, and the Bangor Symphony Youth Orchestra. She has received the Maine Youth Leadership Award.
Kacey Plourde, daughter of Ronald and Heidi Plourde of Enfield, has been named the salutatorian of the Class of 2007. She will attend Husson College to study physical therapy.
She has participated in honors banquet for three years, National Honor Society, Girls State, class council and student council for four years with one year serving as president-historian. She also participated in soccer for four years, tennis and girls varsity basketball for three years, girls JV basketball for two years, cross country and tennis.
Plourde has received the DAR Good Citizen Award, the Fredrick Douglass & Susan B. Anthony Humanities and Social Sciences Award, the Williams College Book Award, Soccer Coaches Award, Basketball Coaches Award, the PVC Scholar-Athlete Award and the Principal’s Award.
Pricilla Curtis, daughter of Calvin and Melissa Curtis of Lowell, has been named the first honor essayist for the Class of 2007. She will attend the University of Maine to study mechanical engineering.
She participated in class council, the math team for three years, National Honor Society for two years, honors banquet for three years and the band.
Kelsy Lavertu, daughter of Alan Lavertu of Bangor and Melanie Lavertu of Howland, has been named second honor essayist. She will attend Husson College in Bangor to study nursing.
She was freshmen class president and sophomore class vice president, and participated in band for four years, jazz band, student council for two years, honors banquet for two years, Girls State, and National Honor Society for two years, serving as NHS president during her senior year. She also participated in soccer, basketball, softball and volleyball for four years, serving as captain for all sports her senior year, and cross country.
Lavertu received the Howler Pride Award, was a McDonald’s senior basketball all-star, second team all-star, MVP and All Tournament team.
Brian Harris, son of Larry and Lori Harris of West Enfield, has been named third honor essayist. He will attend the University of Maine in Orono to participate in the liberal arts program.
He participated in student council, National Honor Society for two years, honor banquet for three years, Boys State, Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow for four years, class president his sophomore, junior and senior years, National Foreign Language Spanish Award, orchestra president his senior year, Tri-M Music Honor Society junior and senior year and served as its president during his senior year. He also participated in the Bangor Symphony Youth Orchestra for four years, Bangor Youth Symphony String Quartet for two years, District V Honors Bank, performed with the Young Americans and the United States Navy Band.
Harris participated in basketball, soccer, tennis and volleyball all four years at PVHS. He was awarded PVC boys basketball all-academic team his junior and senior year, PVC boys soccer second team his senior year, PVC boys tennis second team during his junior year.
