ELLSWORTH – The local University of Maine Cooperative Extension has scheduled a six-session course in ecological landscaping this summer.
The classes, with the first starting at 9 a.m. Friday, June 29, will be available at the Hancock County Extension office. The other classes will meet from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 13, 20, 27, and Aug. 17 and 24.
Participants will learn to identify native plant communities and non-native invasive species and to design projects that benefit wildlife while requiring no pesticides and minimal water and fertilization.
The cost of the program is $70 and registration is required. Call the extension office at 667-8212 or (800) 287-1479 before the June 22 registration deadline.
