SCARBOROUGH – A Lewiston man died at a Scarborough campground Tuesday when his kayak overturned in a lake.

Michael Gould, 21, was staying at Wassamski Springs campground with his parents and some friends, officials said.

One of the friends, David Burnett, said the kayak tipped over while Gould was paddling across the campground lake, but he wasn’t wearing a life jacket and couldn’t swim.

Rescue workers recovered the body shortly before 8 a.m.
