GUILFORD – State police are still investigating an accident that occurred May 25 in Guilford in which a Sangerville man was critically injured.
State Trooper Forrest Simpson said Logan Lovell, 22, was injured when the late-model Mitsubishi he was traveling in left Route 150 in Guilford and crashed into trees. The accident occurred at a curve in the road, and the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, Simpson said Monday.
Lovell, who allegedly was intoxicated, managed to drag himself from the vehicle after the crash, Simpson said. Because of the nature of his injuries, Lovell has been in a drug-induced coma at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, he said.
A hospital spokesman said Tuesday that Lovell was in critical condition.
Simpson said it appeared that Lovell was the sole occupant of the vehicle since the passenger side of the vehicle was demolished. There has been a rumor since the accident, however, that Lovell may not have been alone in the vehicle and that rumor is being investigated, he said.
