PRESQUE ISLE – City officials are looking for businesses and nonprofit organizations to participate in its new “Adopt-A-Highway Program” for litter control.
The city has designed specific sections of roadways leading into the community for the program.
Organizations must agree to perform litter-control duties at least twice a year, spring and fall, for a minimum of two years. It is expected that a crew of 10 to 20 people could clean selected areas in several hours each time.
When the work is performed, the city will provide garbage bags, up to 20 safety vests, and a sign indicating “workers ahead.”
The city also will erect an assembly sign recognizing a business or a nonprofit community organization’s participation in the program.
Roadways will be available to the first who come. For more information, contact the city manager at 764-4485.
