BREWER – Machias Savings Bank is planning to build a branch office on Wilson Street and has filed an application with the state’s Department of Transportation, according to a legal notice published Thursday in the Bangor Daily News.

The proposed 8,000-square foot bank branch with drive-through and 22,000-square foot office project will sit on 5.2 acres located at 581 Wilson St. between Tire Warehouse and Unique Boutique.

“The bank has purchased land in Brewer and will construct a branch facility on that location during 2007,” Edward L. Hennessey Jr., president, CEO and clerk of Machias Savings Bank, has posted on the bank’s Web site. “We are also exploring the possibility of at least two more branches by June 2008.”

Public comment on the project will be accepted throughout the application process. Written comments may be sent to the Department of Transportation, Traffic Engineering Division, 16 State House Station, Augusta 04333.
