Pastors to move to new churches July 1

Bishop Peter Weaver, the head of the New England Conference of the United Methodist Church, has announced pastor assignments for churches in Maine.

The following ministers at congregations listed by town will begin their tenures effective July 1:

Columbia: The Rev. Steven Smith of Milbridge-Wyman UMCs, Milbridge, also will serve Faith UMC.

Cutler: The Rev. David Arruda of the Cutler UMC will serve at Faith Fellowship UMC, Mansfield, Mass. Pastor assignment is pending.

Dover-Foxcroft: The Rev. Margaret “Dodie” Sheffield of Conway and Moultonville UMCs, in New Hampshire, will serve as pastor of Dover-Foxcroft and Atkinson UMCs. The Rev. Neil Gastonguay will move to Bath UMC.

Greenville: The Rev. Harbour Mitchell will serve People’s UMC. The Rev. Kwan Lee will retire.

Guilford: The Rev. Stephen Dean of Dexter-Ripley UMC also will serve Guilford UMC. The Rev. Daniel Bollen of Guilford UMC will move to Aldersgate UMC in Rockland.

Hampden: The Rev. Edward Bove of Byfield Community Church, Byfield, Mass., will serve Hampden Highlands UMC. The Rev. Debra Hanson will move to West Kennebunk UMC and Goodwins Mills UMC in Lyman, Mass.

Newport: The Rev. George Darling will retire from People’s UMC. Pastor assignment is pending.

Old Town: The Rev. Joan DeSanctis of Asbury UMC, Woodstown, N.J., will serve Old Town UMC and Stillwater Federated Church. The Rev. Philip Chaffee will move to Wesley UMC, Salem, Mass.

Rockland: The Rev. Daniel Bollen of Guilford UMC will serve at Aldersgate UMC. The Rev. Kathleen Towns will move to Hannah Tenney and Salem UMCs, Salem, N.H.

Unity: The Rev. Richard Boyden will move to Farmham Memorial UMC, Pittsburg, N.H., and Grace UMC, Canaan, Vt. Pastor is assignment pending.

Waldoboro: The Rev. Beverly Blaisdell of the Bath UMC will serve Waldoboro UMC. The Rev. Joseph Beardsley will retire.
