The Maine Winter Sports Center will hold a four-race summer biathlon series with the overall winner determined Aug. 5 in Rumford.
The Maine Summer Biathlon Cup starts June 23 at the L.L. Bean Fogg Farm in Freeport with a 4:30 p.m. race. Races will also be held July 1 at Gould Academy in Bethel, July 14 at the 10th Mountain Ski Center in Fort Kent and at Black Mountain in Rumford, which will be the final race. The Fort Kent race will be held in conjunction with the Summer Biathlon National Championships.
Summer biathlon involves running and target shooting.
