ELIOT – Some Eliot residents are complaining that the new wood-generating power plant across the river in Portsmouth, N.H., is violating noise restrictions in both communities.
The residents say they have an engineer’s study showing the Schiller generating station is too noisy. Resident Dan Bogannam says it sounds like a jet engine running all the time.
Public Service Co. spokesman Martin Murray said the company’s sound tests show the plant is operating within Portsmouth’s guidelines.
The Eliot Board of Selectmen is backing its residents.
