As a machinist at Lyman Morse Boatworks, I would like to thank Cianbro Corp. for its confidence in the Maine worker. After learning about their latest business venture and their plan to hire 500 Maine workers in Brewer, I certainly hope that when that first barge of industrial segments floats under the new Penobscot Narrows Bridge, the Cianchette family has the foresight to fly the biggest Maine flag ever produced from that majestic span.

What a display of symbolism that will be.

The Penobscot Narrows Bridge was built by Cianbro Corp. and is a futuristic span that denotes a vibrant future as it gazes down upon Fort Knox, a place that symbolizes Maine’s important past. To see such a sight will prove that Maine can truly compete in global marketplace. Better yet, it shows what I have said for years. Thanks to pride, dedication, safety and a good work ethic, Maine’s greatest natural resource is its work force.

I would like to thank Cianbro Corp. for thinking so as well.
