Warm-weather wines

Raise your glass to the first day of summer this Thursday at Bangor Wine and Cheese. From 6 to 9 p.m., representatives from Wicked Wines will be on hand for a wine tasting featuring bottles from Spain, France, New Zealand, South Africa, Italy and California. For information, call 942-3338.

What’s cookin’? You, if you sign up for a class at Pairings, the food and wine education center in Winterport. Its July and August calendar of classes is now available online at www.PairingsInMaine.com or in person at Pairings or the Winterport Winery, both on Route 1A. New offerings include Tapas – Little Nibbles from Spain, Vegetarian Cooking, Picnic with Pizzazz, Gourmet at Home and Light Summer Suppers. Classes cost $60 each. For information, call 223-0990.

Kenney in the kitchen

Searsport native Matthew Kenney will return to Maine for a dinner featuring local, seasonal produce at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens’ Kitchen Garden Caf? in Boothbay. Kenney is a New York chef, the founder of Organic Umbrella and author of several cookbooks. The dinner, which will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 12, is part of the Kitchen Garden Series. The meal costs $50 for members, $65 for nonmembers, which includes a beer or a glass of wine. Reservations are requested.
