Get a Clue @ Your Library
Super sleuths and daring detectives are invited to join “Get a Clue @ Your Library,” the Bangor Public Library’s Summer Reading Program at the library, 145 Harlow St.
The program is open to children from birth through fifth grade, and participants may sign up as a reader or listener. Special guests, music, story times, owls, dressed-up pets, authors, special agents, crafts and mirthful mayhem will be part of what will be detected at the library this summer.
The school with the largest number of participants will win an after-hours private party for its pupils, staff and families.
The first 600 children who sign up for the program will receive a free pass to the Bangor State Fair, July 27-Aug. 5.
On July 26, 20 wristbands for unlimited free rides at the fair will be given away. Each reading program participant will receive a pass to a Portland Sea Dogs baseball game, a bowling pass from Sports Arena and a complimentary lunch from Weathervane Seafoods. Each Thursday during the program, a door prize will be given away.
Attendees could win a pass for a child and parent to Penobscot Theatre’s production of “Peter Pan,” an “18-Wheeler” ice cream sundae from Dysart’s Restaurant, a family swim at the Husson College pool, a pass to the new Nancy Drew movie at Bangor Cinemas 10, a “Federal Deficit” ice cream from Governor’s restaurant or a family pass to a University of Maine football game. A winner will be drawn each week from correctly completed weekly game submissions.
At the program finale on Aug. 10, prizes will be drawn from entries submitted each time participants visited the Bangor library. Summer readers who complete their contracts receive a complimentary ice cream from Gifford’s.
Get a Clue @ the Bangor Public Library. Clue into summer fun. Clue into reading.
