UNITY – The Unity Barn Raisers will hold its annual meeting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, at the Unity Community Center.
This year’s meeting – the 11th annual – will focus on celebrating the local economy.
Tess Woods, the nonprofit group’s executive director, said local business owners and service organizations are invited to set up displays to promote themselves, recruit new customers or members, announce a new product, or sell their goods. Any business or organization that serves the towns of Burnham, Freedom, Knox, Montville, Thorndike, Troy, and Unity can e-mail ubr@uninets.net or call the Barn Raisers office at 948-9005 to reserve a table for this event.
Also, in partnership with this celebration, there will be a community-run yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds will go toward downtown pedestrian enhancement projects aimed at encouraging more and safer pedestrian activity in the area. A lunch of pulled pork and tempeh with rolls, salads, drinks and desserts from local sources will be served from 11 a.m. to noon. Cost for the lunch is $6 adults, $3 over 60, under 12, or income eligible.
A short awards ceremony will be held at noon, followed by a free contradance led by Barn Raisers’ board member, John McIntire.
