TRENTON – Bar Harbor Biotechnology, the first commercial company ever spun off from The Jackson Laboratory, has received $334,632 from Maine Technology Institute.

The money will be used to reach proof of concept and for in-house testing of BHB’s genetic profiling equipment. The four-employee firm is developing kits by which medical researchers can track changes brought on by disease in biological tissue.

The institute awarded more than $1 million total to four Maine companies that are trying to develop technological products for market. D2 In-Line Solutions LLC in Gray, Microspectral Sensors LLC in Wilton, and Time Temperature Integration LLC in Kennebunk also received funds from the institute.
