Healey helps Motor City net doubleheader sweep

BANGOR – Aaron Healey earned a relief win in the opener, then pitched a complete game in Game 2 Saturday as Motor City swept an American Legion Zone 1 doubleheader from Hampden by scores of 10-9 and 8-4 at Husson College.

In the opener, Nick Smith stroked a game-tying RBI triple in the seventh inning and scored on a passed ball to give Motor City the victory.

Kyle Gallant hit an RBI single and Tommy Jackson singled and scored in the seventh. Healey halted Hampden’s seven-run rally in the sixth and registered four outs for the win.

Corey Harding tripled and singled while Shawn Smith doubled and singled (RBI) for Hampden.

In the nightcap, Cory Wasson’s three-run double keyed a five-run third inning that paced Motor City. Healey scattered nine hits, striking out eight.

Chris Smith singled twice with two RBIs for the winners while Jon Gagnon and Jackson each added two singles.

Garrett Pratt, Joel Neill and Harding posted two singles and an RBI apiece to lead Hampden. Shawn Smith also had two hits.

At Brewer Sunday, Josh Nickerson and Caleb Ashey hit RBI doubles in the first inning to lift Waldo over Brewer.

Jake Arthers tripled for the Wildcats and Nate Adams doubled. Gabe Blodgett and Tyler Miles combined for 11 strikeouts.

Prentiss Swett homered in the first inning for the Falcons and Chris Maguire doubled.

At Calais, Chad Kelley hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning and added two singles to lead Bangor past Calais on Sunday.

Jordan Clarke had three singles and three RBIs for the Comrades. Alex Gallant hit a double and two singles to drive in two runs and Tom Crews had a two-run double.

Jeff Ramsdell hit a three-run home run and a double to knock in five runs for the Suns. Tommy Pottle hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning and Aaron Sullivan had a triple and two singles with two runs scored.

At Presque Isle Sunday, Harry Austin drove in six runs on a home run, a double and three singles as the Patriots rolled.

Presque Isle’s Hunter Caron hit two doubles, a home run and a single for three RBIs. Michael Cleary recorded two doubles, a single and two RBIs and Tom Desjardins added two singles, a double and two RBIs.

Tom Jackson and Cory Wasson each hit two singles with an RBI and Nick Smith chipped in with a solo homer.

At Mahaney Diamond, Orono, Tyler Honey singled and hit two sacrifice flies to drive in two runs and help lead Orono to the win over Penquis on Sunday.

Matt Jones had two singles and an RBI for the Twins and Kash Keezer doubled and scored a run. Max Winter allowed one run on three hits while striking out seven in seven innings.

Tyler Weymouth hit an rBI single and Brad Brown singled and scored a run.

Tyson Tash and Cory Barnett each singled twice for the Lumber.

Presque Isle sweeps Calais

At Presque Isle, Michael Cleary hit a double and two singles to drive in four runs and help lift Presque Isle over Calais 23-3 in the first game on Saturday. The Patriots also won the second game 10-7.

In the first game, Pat Thibodeau had a double and two singles with two RBIs for Presque Isle. Hunter Caron singled four times and knocked in two runs and Matt McGlinn added a double and two singles.

Jeff Ramsdell doubled twice for the Suns and Aaron Sullivan had two singles.

In the second game, Harry Austin homered and singled for the Patriots. Thibodeau had two singles and a double. Hunter Caron singled and doubled twice and Andrew York doubled and singled.

Scott Geel doubled for Calais and Scott Boomer hit two singles.

At Lincoln, Tyson Tash hit a game-tying three-run triple in the seventh inning and Tyler Thompson added an RBI groundout to give Lincoln the 9-8 win over Brewer in the first game. Brewer scored three runs in the seventh inning to win the second game 8-6.

In the first game, Aaron Flannery doubled and drove in three runs for the Lumber. Jordan Burleigh and Tyler Flannery each singled twice.

Prentiss Swett tripled and singled with four RBIs for Brewer and Matt Jackson had two singles. Eddie Robbins and Pat Dedmond doubled and singled.

In the second game, Cam Wadleigh hit an RBI single in the seventh inning to lead the Falcons. Eddie Robbins hit an RBI single and scored three runs. Rick Adams doubled and singled with two runs and Chris Higgins added an RBI double.

Cory Barnett hit a solo home run and two singles for Lincoln and Tyler Thompson had two doubles and two RBIs. Tyson Tash doubled twice and Aaron Flannery added an RBI double.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Nick Emery hit a solo home run, a two-run home run and a single to lead Penquis to the 7-4 win over Bangor in the second game on Saturday. Bangor took the first game 15-4.

In the first game, Gordon Webb had two doubles and an RBI for the Comrades and Tom Crews hit a solo home run. Kyle Leeman hit a two-run double and Kyle Vanidestine had two singles and two runs scored.

Danny Beatham and Brad Brown hit RBI singles for Penquis.

In the second game, Beatham had two doubles and two RBIs for the Navigators. Danny Kane singled and doubled and Ian Champeon hit an RBI double.

Ian Edwards hit a solo home run for the Comrades and Scott Hackett doubled.

Aerus Electrolux earns sweep

At Dover-Foxcroft, Randy Renaud recorded two home runs, a single and five RBIs in two games as Aerus Electrolux swept Dovetail Furniture 14-4 in the first game and 11-5 in the second.

In the first game, Andy Treadwell added two singles and an RBI for Aerus Electrolux while Phil Cayford homered and drove in three runs.

Josh Pelletier and Paul Lancisi each hit two singles and added an RBI for Dovetail Furniture.

In the second game, Treadwell doubled and added two more RBIs. Mark Farnham drove in three runs on two singles and a double, while Toby Cole singled twice and drove in a run.

Tim McCarthy paced Dovetail Furniture with three singles, a double and three RBIs.
