GREENVILLE – A former town police officer’s request to be reinstated was approved unanimously by selectmen last week.

Scott MacMaster, 32, had recently resigned from the Greenville Police Department to take another law enforcement position in Jay, but he reconsidered that move.

Town Manager John Simko said Monday that MacMaster decided he wanted to remain in Greenville with the local department.

MacMaster resumed his sergeant’s position and resumed his duties in Greenville last Friday. As of July 1, MacMaster will serve as the town’s interim police chief.

Police Chief Duane Alexander resigned his position effective June 30. Alexander plans to pursue other interests.
