The Maine Discovery Museum may invite families indoors for summer fun, but landscape paintings such as “Hadlock Brook, Late Afternoon” by Trenton artist Phyllis Rees also are encouraging viewers to explore the great outdoors. “Intimate Views: Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island, Maine,” a collection of Rees’ works, will be on display at the museum’s second-floor snack gallery through the end of July. The paintings may inspire a trip to MDI – or a purchase, with 30 percent of the profits going to the museum. The book of the same name is on sale at the museum bookstore, with profits going to both the museum and the park.
