Ryan enjoys swimming and singing

Ryan, born in 1999, is an incredibly endearing child with sparkling blue eyes and a smile that will melt your heart. He is affectionate, active and curious.

He enjoys swimming, playing outside, jumping on the trampoline, reading books and singing.

He is mildly autistic and receives special education services at school.

Ryan receives one-on-one instruction throughout most of his school day.

He receives occupational and speech therapy at school and has a family integration specialist to help him with social interactions.

It would be important that Ryan continue to receive this support because of the gains he has made with them. He uses sign language as a second form of communication.

Ryan will do best with skilled, patient parents who are able to provide structure and consistency for him. Being the only child or the youngest would be best for Ryan.

Ryan maintains contact with an older sibling, and it is hoped that an adoptive family will assist in maintaining that relationship.

Ryan is one of 151 children in the care of the state Department of Health and Human Services seeking an adoptive family.

Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care
