BANGOR – Maine Discovery Museum in Bangor is the recipient of the 2007 Maine Tourism Association’s Regional Tourism Award for the Highlands Region.

The museum is being honored “for its contributions in arts, culture and entertainment, and for being a catalyst for downtown economic development and revitalization.”

Andrea Stark, the museum’s executive director, received the award at the association’s annual meeting at the Sunday River Ski Resort.

Maine Discovery Museum, the largest children’s museum in northern New England, opened in 2001 and has welcomed more than 400,000 visitors.
