Berry, Dunn, McNeil and Parker, a public accounting and consulting firm, has announced several staff promotions in its Bangor offices. Lisa Sargent of Brewer, a certified public accountant, was promoted to senior manager in the financial institutions industry group. Matthew Timney of Hampden was promoted to a senior member in the Bangor general practice group. Jamie Schureman was promoted from network specialist to systems administrator. Berry, Dunn, McNeil and Parker is the largest certified public accounting and management consulting firm in northern New England, with approximately 175 employees in Portland, Bangor and Manchester, N.H.
General Motors’ top executives recently bestowed one of the company’s most prestigious awards on Rick L. Varney, of Varney Buick Pontiac-GMC in Bangor. In a ceremony last month at Lincoln Center in New York City, Varney received the Jack Smith Leadership Award, an honor awarded to 115 of the 7,000 GM car dealers nationwide for “continued dedication to sales excellence, customer satisfaction and community involvement.” The award is named after Jack Smith, retired GM chairman and chief executive officer, and founder of the GM Dealer of the Year recognition program. Varney Pontiac-GMC is the No. 2 ranked GMC dealer in the region and was named a GMC Mark of Excellence Winner. Varney contributes to United Way of Eastern Maine, University of Maine athletics and local youth athletics. He is also an advocate of conservation and preservation.
