Statement from Woodbury’s stepfather

Statement from Edward Woodbury Jr., Michael Woodbury’s stepfather:

On behalf of my family, I would like to make the following statement:

We are all sickened and horrified at the senseless acts of violence committed by Michael Woodbury, resulting in the deaths of three innocent Men. We cannot begin to feel the pain their families are suffering. Our hearts and our prayers go out to the families of the victims.

Up until this point, I have chosen not to comment to the media. The reason is that We do not really know Michael, therefore we are incapable of providing any constructive information. Our only contact with Michael, in the last 13 years, has been a few one hour visits and some 15 minute phone calls. Michael was adopted by me when he was 7 years old and went to jail when he was 16. He is now 31 years old.

His actions defy human understanding. During Michael’s crime spree, We have cooperated totally with all Law Enforcement Agencies involved in his pursuit. Our sincere hope was that he would be captured before something horrible happened. Unfortunately, that was not to be.

I know it will never be enough, but I sincerely hope that Michael’s ultimate fate will bring some level of closure to the families.

As a result of the media’s misreporting of the facts regarding my family and the statements we have made, We will not be available for further comment.
