BANGOR – The Professional Bull Riders competitions scheduled July 28 and 29 at the Bangor State Fair have been canceled due to low ticket sales, according to the event’s marketing director.
Lauren Wayne, northern New England marketing director for Live Nation, said Tuesday that refunds would be available at the point of purchase.
Mike Dyer, director of Bass Park, where the event was to be held, said about 800 tickets had been sold for the two shows combined. There were 4,000 tickets available.
“They didn’t need to sell them all, but they needed to sell a lot more than 400 a show,” he said.
Dyer said Ticketmaster automatically will refund people who bought tickets through the service with a credit card, but added that anyone who bought a ticket at the Bangor box office needs to return the ticket either by mail or in person to receive a refund.
“Everybody thought that [the event] was a winner,” Dyer said. “Sometimes you just can’t explain these things. Obviously, we’re all disappointed.”
