BRADLEY – Keith Larby, 15, of Bradley hopes to join the military after high school and he is well on his way as a member of the Bangor-Brewer Civil Air Patrol.

Larby’s interest in the military began as he listened to his father, Rob, tell about his experiences in the Marines, including stories of Desert Storm.

Two years after he joined the Civil Air Patrol, Larby achieved the rank of staff sergeant and acquired command of his squadron. In December 2006 he was recognized as Cadet of the Year.

As a member of the Civil Air Patrol, Larby has participated in model rocketry contests, the Blue Angels Air Show in Brunswick, Memorial Day and Independence Day parades, the Fly-In at Greenville, Airman Academy and winter encampments.

Larby will be a sophomore this fall at Old Town High School. He chose Junior ROTC as one of his classes last year. His superior officers noticed his potential and appointed him leader of the freshman JROTC class.

As a high school freshman, Larby ended the year with a 92.6 grade point average.

Larby is the son of Ronda and Al Jackson of Bradley.
