Vandegrift, Logue lift Acadian stars to win

ELLSWORTH – Seth Vandegrift and Robbie Logue combined to allow just one hit and three walks while striking out 11 to lead the Acadian 11-12 All-Stars to a 1-0 District 1 baseball win over Ellsworth Wednesday.

Logue hit an RBI single in the first inning for Acadian. Vandegrift didn’t allow a hit through 5 1/3 innings.

Matt Clark singled in the sixth inning for Ellsworth.

At Bangor Tuesday, Mitchell Bradford hit a grand slam and a triple to help lift Millinocket over Glenburn-Levant.

Nick Dumas singled twice for Millinocket and Damean Newberry doubled.

Garrett Kipler singled for Glenburn-Levant.

At Bangor, Jeff Littlefield doubled and singled to lift Hermon over Katahdin.

Ben Wheeler hit two singles for Hermon.

Trent Cullinan led Katahdin with two doubles.

Brewer 11, Holbrook 0

At Bangor, Evan Riva tossed a four-inning no-hitter, striking out seven of the 13 batters he faced and walking only two to lead Brewer to the victory over Holbrook.

Chase Allen doubled twice for Brewer.

Calais 15, Sunrise 2

At Calais, Joe Mitchell hit two triples and a single to drive in five runs and lead Calais past Sunrise.

Adam Geel doubled and singled with two RBIs and recorded eight strikeouts for Calais. Josh Gillespie tripled and Sam Altvater added an RBI single.

Kameron Jordan singled twice to lead Sunrise.

At Ellsworth, Chase Bickford racked up seven RBIs on a three-run homer, a triple and two singles as Ellsworth topped Bucksport.

The game was called in the sixth inning due to darkness.

Seth Cote hit two singles and drove in two runs for Ellsworth and Tyler Palmer doubled.

Tyler French paced Bucksport with two RBIs on two triples and a double. Bill DeRedin chipped in with a double.

Bangor 14, Brewer 4

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, a seven-run fifth inning broke the game open for undefeated Bangor.

Joe Stanevicz had a triple, a single, and two RBIs while Jacques Larochelle added a double and two RBIs for the Bangor all-stars.

Kyle McLain had a double, single, and two RBIs for Brewer. Jordan Smith singled twice.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Sean Kilpatrick’s two-run triple highlighted a three-run third-inning rally that gave Orono-Veazie the lead for good.

Andy Rios added a double, single and RBI for the winners, hwile Dan Lesser also doubled and singled and Nick Cota and Dominic Mowrer each had two singles and an RBI.

Keith Nelson led Holbrook with a double and single.

At Ellsworth, Matt Boyle tossed a five-hit shutout, striking out nine and walking one to pace Ellsworth to the win.

Mickey Manning doubled and singled to knock in three runs while Tyler Salsbury knocked a two-run double for Ellsworth. Pat Kelley and Matt Boyle each added two singles and an RBI.

Sam Carmichael had two singles for Bucksport.

At Glenburn, Breanna Weston hit two doubles and a single to drive in three runs and also pitched a five-hit shutout to lead Lincoln past Old Town.

Lauren Page had three singles and a triple with one RBI for Lincoln and Courtney McIntyre added two singles and an RBI.

Lauren Martin, Rachel Martin, Karah Hussey, Michaela Milton and Jordan Richards singled for Old Town.
