211 program marks one-year anniversary

In celebration of its one-year anniversary, the statewide 211 program will take a one-day road trip on Tuesday, July 17, making stops in Presque Isle, Bangor, Waterville, Portland and Kennebunk. At each stop, the public is invited to share refreshments and learn more about the program.

By dialing 211 on their telephones, Mainers across the state have access to a one-stop resource for services ranging from elder care to financial assistance, from legal advice to parenting support. Sponsored by the United Way, the Ingraham nonprofit service organization and the state of Maine, the program is part of a national movement to make it easier for consumers to obtain health and human service information and services.

Tuesday’s “211 Caravan” will make the following stops:

. 8-8:30 a.m. – Kickoff at the Connect North America Gazebo (formerly MBNA), 18 Green Hill Drive, Presque Isle.

. 11:30 a.m.-noon – Ice cream social at the Sea Dog, 26 Front St., Bangor.
