The Greenland Point Center in Princeton will host an open house and day of family fun on Aug. 25.

The day begins with a 5-kilometer race and mile fun walk and run. Registration starts at 9 a.m., the mile event starts at 9:30 and the 5K race at 10. The registration fee is $10.

A camp-wide yard sale begins at 11 a.m. with concessions and a bake sale. Tables are still available for rent for $10.

BOW workshops upcoming

The state’s Becoming an Outdoors Woman in Maine is staging a number of workshops designed to provide an opportunity to expand on lessons learned in BOW’s Introductory Skills Weekend.

Among the upcoming workshops:

. At Parsonsfield, A whitewater kayaking workshop on July 21-22. This program is ideal for those interested in learning kayak skills in moving water.

. At Fish River Lodge in Eagle Lake, a fly fishing workshop is scheduled for Aug. 10-12. The program provides an overview of the sport of fly fishing, including equipment and casting instruction.

. At Durham Rod & Gun Club, an archery workshop is set for Aug. 4. Traditional and compound bows will be featured, instruction given and participants will have plenty of opportunity to target practice.

. At Hermon Skeet Club, a shotgun clinic is scheduled for Sept. 22. Participants will receive individual instruction and ample opportunity to shoot five-stand, skeet and trap. Instructors will also lecture on upland bird hunting and waterfowl hunting. Participants must already have completed the hunter safety course of the firearms safety class.
