BUCKSPORT – Tyler French singled four times to help lead the Bucksport all-stars past Coastal 15-8 in District 1 Junior League baseball play Saturday.

Andrew Giosia and Matt Swazey each doubled and singled for Bucksport. Ryan Bailey, Tim Nason and Tyler McAllian all had two singles.

Fred Lebel singled twice to lead Bucksport. Josh Gale and John Lymburner doubled.

Chase Bickford hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to lead Ellsworth. Jordan Carter doubled and Seth Cote added an RBI single.

At Bangor, Justin Courtney allowed just one hit and no runs while striking out 10 to lead Bangor East to victory over Hampden Newburgh Saturday.

Courtney had a double and two singles for Bangor East. Ryan Moore doubled and singled while Jake Morrill and Alex Welch each added two singles.

Tristan Gardner singled for Hampden Newburgh.

Ellsworth 5, Bucksport 1

At Bucksport, Pat Kelley allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out 11 to lead Ellsworth past Bucksport and claim the District 1 Senior League Championship on Friday.

Andrew Hodge doubled and singled with an RBI for Ellsworth and Kelley added two singles. Tyler Salsbury doubled and Mickey Manning hit an RBI single.

Ross Bowden hit an RBI single to lead Bucksport.

At Calais, Chloe Black and Miranda Moffett each hit two singles and drove in two runs to help lead Calais past Ellsworth to win the District 1 11-12 softball championship.

Calais will play the District 5 champion Friday at 5 p.m. in Rockland.

Allison Hill singled and knocked in two runs for Calais.

Nicole Austin doubled and singled with two RBIs for Ellsworth and Mary Sarro had two singles and two RBIs.
