Penquis takes 3 victories Bangor, Trenton record sweeps

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Danny Kane singled in the seventh inning to drive in Andrew Richard and lead Penquis to a 3-2 American Legion baseball victory over Brewer Sunday.

The win capped a 3-0 weekend for Penquis as it swept Calais 8-7 and 3-0 in a Saturday doubleheader.

Kane had a double and two singles with two RBIs for Penquis on Sunday. Tyler Speed hit an RBI single and Tom Collins singled twice.

Chris Maguire led Brewer with a double and a single with an RBI and Ricky Adams added an RBI single.

On Saturday, Josh Conroy scored the winning run in the seventh inning on a Tyler Speed single to push Penquis to the 8-7 win over Calais in Saturday’s first game. Brad Brown hit a game-tying two-run single in the seventh inning for Penquis.

Brown had two singles and three RBIs for Penquis and Speed had two singles and two RBIs. Danny Beatham doubled and singled and Ian Champeon added an RBI double.

Matt O’Brien doubled and singled to drive in a run for Calais. Scott Geel added two singles and an RBI and Aaron Sullivan singled and drove in a run.

In the second game, Scott Kelley allowed two hits and three walks while striking out two to earn the shutout win for Penquis. Danny Kane singled, scored two runs and stole two bases and Josiah Richard singled twice.

Tom Pottle and Jeff Ramsdell singled for Calais.

Trenton sweeps Hampden

At Blue Hill, Josh Astbury allowed one run on five hits, two walks and one hit batsman while striking out 12 to lead Trenton to the 8-1 win over Hampden in the first game. Trenton also won the second game 11-0.

In the first game, Evan Alexander doubled and singled to drive in two runs for Trenton. Nick Saunders and Nick Swanson added RBI doubles.

Derek Amoroso led Hampden with an RBI single.

In the second game, Collin Henry had two doubles and two RBIs for Trenton. Kyle Shea doubled and singled and Blake Wessel singled twice.

Collin Ciomei recorded 11 strikeouts.

Shawn Smith led Hampden with two singles.

Bangor sweeps Motor City

At Winkin Complex in Bangor Saturday, Ian Edwards notched a complete-game victory and had two triples, two singles, a stolen base, and six RBIs to lead the visiting Comrades to 5-2 and 24-3 victories.

In game one, Edwards had 10 strikeouts and four walks while scattering eight hits. Tom Crews had a two-run single.

Cory Wasson had two singles for Motor City.

In game two, Neal Russell entered the game in relief in the second inning and earned the win for Bangor.

Scott Hackett had a double, a single, and three RBIs. Kyle Vanidestine had a double, single, four RBIs and three stolen bases for the Comrades.

Nick Smith had two singles and a run. Chris Smith had a double and a run.

At Searsport, Jake Arthers hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning and added a single to help lead Waldo past Motor City of Bangor Sunday.

Tyler Miles had a solo home run and a single for two RBIs for Waldo. Tom Cameron hit three singles and drove in a run and Caleb Ashey singled twice.

Tommy Jackson and Chris Smith both singled twice for Motor City. Nick Smith and Aaron Healey doubled.

At Millinocket, Dan LeBreton hit a triple and three singles to drive in seven runs and lift Orono over Lincoln Sunday.

Kash Keezer had a triple and three singles with five runs scored for Orono. Matt Jones singled three times and knocked in three runs and Jarrett Lukas doubled and singled. Travis Dunton hit three singles.

Aaron Flannery hit a two-run home run and a single to lead Lincoln. Tyler Thompson and Pete Coggins each had a double, single and an RBI. Tyler Emerson singled twice.

Bangor 17, Presque Isle 5

At Mansfield Stadium on Sunday, Alex Gallant hit a single, double and a first-inning grand slam to drive in six runs and lift Bangor over Presque Isle.

Kyle Vanidestine doubled and singled with two RBIs for Bangor and Tyson Barron tripled and doubled with an RBI.

Michael Cleary hit a two-run home run and a single for Presque Isle. Pat Thibodeau had three singles and Tom Desjardins doubled.

At Bordick Park in Hampden on Sunday evening, Harry Austin hit a home run, a double and three singles to lead the Patriots to victory.

Austin also scored three runs as Presque Isle built a 9-1 fourth-inning lead for starting pitcher Matt Enman.

Tom Desjardins added a triple and two singles with three runs scored and an RBI, while Pat Thibodeau had three singles and two RBIs.

Shawn Smith paced Hampden with two doubles, a single and a run scored. Brennan Perry added an RBI double and a single, while Joel Neill had an RBI single.

Total Life, Union Street split

At the Winkin Complex in Bangor, Joe Robicheau hit an RBI single to break the 4-4 tie and lead Union Street Cleaners to the 5-4 win over Total Life Fitness in Sunday’s second game. Total Life Fitness won the first game 4-0.

In the first game, Craig Harvey hit a two-run single in the sixth inning for Total Life Fitness and Pat Moran singled twice. Moran recorded eight strikeouts.

Billy Shannon and George Keefe singled for Union Street Cleaners.

In the second game, Robicheau had three singles and a triple with three RBIs for Union Street Cleaners and Sam Adolphson added two singles.

Ian Lee led Total Life Fitness with a double and two singles with three RBIs. Jason Harvey hit an RBI single and Justin Spencer singled twice.

Aerus wins two

At Belfast, Anthony Derosa hit a tie-breaking RBI triple in the seventh inning to help lead Aerus Electrolux to the 7-5 win over Freedom Generals in Sunday’s second game. Aerus scored five runs in the seventh inning to beat the Freedom Generals 8-5 in the first game.

In the first game, Randy Renaud hit a two-run home run and a single for Aerus. Nick Arthers had three singles and an RBI for Freedom Generals and Paul Herman added two singles and an RBI.

In the second game, Derosa homered, tripled and singled with three RBIs and two stolen bases to lead Aerus. Kenton Spaulding doubled and singled to knock in two runs for Freedom Generals and Eric Eddy singled twice.
