Climate a moral issue

I couldn’t agree more with Jean Wheeler of Deer Isle and your recent editorial regarding climate change. Global warming is indeed a moral, if not religious, issue.

The New York Times recently made comparisons between certain elements of anthropogenic global warming and religion. And we all know, because we have been reminded by many fine liberals over the years that “You can’t legislate morality.”

In fact, embracing anthropogenic global warming more than likely qualifies as a violation of the First Amendment’s prohibition clause: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” And we all know how dangerous religious zealotry can be.

According to liberal standards, in refusing to sign the Kyoto accords, isn’t President Bush simply keeping his oath to uphold and defend the Constitution?
