ORRINGTON – “Hot time in the summer sun” might very well be the refrain at the Curran Homestead, 372 Fields Pond Road, as organizers prepare for two days of summer fun this weekend.

The schedule for the Olde-Fashioned Country Fair set for Saturday, July 21 is:

. Hands-on weaving and spinning demonstration for children, Debbie Colson, sponsored by Heritage Farm of Orrington, 9 a.m.

. Tour the homestead, learn history and talk to the animals with guide Wayne Killam, 9:15 a.m.

. Carroll Adams, past president of Curran Homestead, living history storyteller, 9:30 a.m.

. Traditional blacksmithing with Bob Robinson of Split Rock Forge, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

. Tractor-drawn hay rides, 10:30 a.m.

. Model T rides with Geezers and Wheezers, 11:30 a.m.-noon.

. Carroll Adams, past president of Curran Homestead, living history storyteller, 11:30 a.m.

. Live music with Late Edition, 11:45 a.m.-2 p.m.

. Chicken, hamburger and hot dog barbecue with chefs John Mugnai and Lou Shumaker, noon. $6, $3 children under 12. Fresh squeezed lemonade, $1.50.

. Tour the homestead, learn history and talk to the animals with guide Wayne Killam, 1 p.m.

. Hands-on weaving and spinning demonstration for children, Debbie Colson, sponsored by Heritage Farm of Orrington, 1:30 p.m.

. Memorial service for Copper the horse and laying of a wreath commemorating his 15 years at Curran Homestead, 2 p.m.

. The farm closes, 2:30 p.m.

Admission to the event is $8, $5 members, $3 students.

Also available that day is early morning birding, 7-8 a.m., with Judy Markowsky of the Field’s Pond Audubon Center; and breakfast at the farm, 7:30-9 a.m. with chef Wayne Killam. The cost of the breakfast is $5, $2 children under 12. Both events require advance registration by calling 945-9311.

In addition a yard sale will be held 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at the Fields Pond Audubon Center, across the road from the Curran Homestead.

Maine’s Open Farm Day is Sunday, July 22, at the Curran Homestead. The schedule of events is:
