BANGOR – United Cerebral Palsy of Maine recently held an ice cream social and awards ceremony to honor five volunteers who have dedicated more than 100 hours of time and services to UCP of Maine.

John Heald, Jim Bradley, Kathleen Bell, Mary Henderson and Katie Guernsey were honored with Victory 100 achievement awards from the National United Cerebral Palsy of Washington. Staff and friends of UCP turned out to honor the “fabulous five.” The group was serenaded with songs by the children of the Peace Pals and Bridges programs at UCP.

“We are so thankful for all the volunteers who give time to UCP of Maine and they are priceless. The U.S. average for a volunteer is $18.04 an hour, and with that being said, the five Victory 100 volunteers add up to more than $10,000 worth of services given to UCP of Maine” said Bobbi Jo Yeager, UCP executive director. “I am so happy to see all the people that turned out for this ice cream social in honor of our Victory 100 volunteers. We will never be able to do enough to show our gratitude.”
