Gardner, Vinal lift Ellsworth Stolen bases key win over Bucksport I

ELLSWORTH – Harrison Vinal stole home in the fifth inning to tie the game at 6, and Anthony Gardner’s steal of home gave the Ellsworth I 9-10 All-Stars a lead they wouldn’t surrender en route to a 7-6 District 1 baseball win over Bucksport I Thursday.

Connor Maguire singled twice for Ellsworth I. Alex Braley doubled and Charlie Libby added an RBI single.

Zach Chapman led Bucksport I with an RBI double and two singles. Cody Augerton added a two-run single.

At Bucksport, Brian Jones hit a two-run double in the third inning to lead Ellsworth past Bucksport.

Evan Van Dorn tripled for Ellsworth and Jacob Poors singled twice.

Dustin Hartman hit a triple to lead Bucksport.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor on Wednesday, Dakota Sleeper allowed one unearned run and two hits while striking out 10 batters in 5 1/3 innings to help Katahdin Valley eliminate Glenburn-Levant.

Andy Kay provided the offense with two doubles, a single and four RBIs for Katahdin. Dillon Boulier had a double and a single. Kaleb Gallagher singled twice.

Mils Gagnon hit a double for Glenburn-Levant.
