EDDINGTON – The town’s annual community barbecue is like a family reunion, but it’s for residents.
The fourth annual “End of Summer” barbecue is scheduled for Aug. 19, with a Aug. 26 rain date at the town hall.
“Several town officials, employees and firefighters will be cooking and serving,” Deputy Town Clerk Shawna Hinkley said in a press release. “We will have games in the ball field area as we have in the past, and there will be musical entertainment as well.”
Baby-back ribs dripping with barbecue sauce – a crowd favorite – will be served again this year along with grilled chicken, cheeseburgers and hot dogs, all prepared by Jeff’s Catering of Brewer. Corn on the cob, baked beans, potato salad, watermelon, ice cream and lemonade, coffee and iced tea will round out the meal, Hinkley said.
All Eddington residents are invited to the barbecue, being held from noon-3 p.m. Aug. 19. Since the event is being catered, those interested in attending should let the town office know so enough food is prepared.
“The event is still being funded by very generous local residents, who wish to remain anonymous,” Hinkley said.
