WELLS – Police and the state medical examiner’s office are investigating the cause of death of a man who was pulled from the water at Wells Beach over the weekend.

Charles Coughlan, 62, of Wells was found unconscious in the water at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, according to police.

Lifeguards and emergency response crews tried to resuscitate Coughlan, but he was pronounced dead at York Hospital.
