MILFORD – The town is accepting applications for a new manager after not renewing the contract of Ruth Peters earlier this month, according to interim Town Manager Barbara Cox.

Peters had served as the town manager for one year, and officials aren’t commenting as to why her contract wasn’t renewed.

Prior to her work in Milford, Peters had worked as town manager in Patten for six months and said at the time she was moving to Milford for personal reasons. She previously spent 11 years as finance director in Hampden.

The Board of Selectmen is slated to begin reviewing applications at its Aug. 1 meeting, but the position will remain open until filled, Cox said Monday.

Milford has a population of about 3,000 people, and the manager is responsible for overseeing eight full-time employees, several part-time employees, department heads, boards, committees, and an annual budget of approximately $2 million.
