BOOTHBAY HARBOR – Former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue and NFL Hall of Fame defensive back Mike Haynes will appear at The Opera House as part of a fundraiser for the Boothbay Harbor landmark on Aug. 6.

Tagliabue, who recently completed a 17-year run as commissioner, and Haynes, who played the majority of his 14-year career with the New England Patriots, will take part in a public interview conducted by Portland TV station WGME sportscaster Dave Eid.

Tickets are $50 per person for the event, whose topics will range from the NFL’s growth under Tagliabue’s stewardship from 1989 through 2006, current NFL issues, and Haynes’ NFL career, which began as a first-round draft choice by New England in 1976, involved a Super Bowl championship with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1983, and featured nine Pro Bowl selections.

The benefit appearance will begin at 7 p.m. and also includes a cash bar for cocktails, photography opportunities, and autographed sports memorabilia door prizes. For more information or to buy tickets, call the opera house box office at 633-5159 or visit the opera house’s Web site at info@boothbayoperahouse.org.
