Glenburn-OT gets victory in East tournament

WORCESTER, Mass. – Sam Besse and Jillian French combined to allow one hit and no walks while striking out eight to lead Glenburn-Old Town to the shutout win over Maryland in the Senior League Softball East Region Tournament Saturday.

Connecticut defeated Glenburn-Old Town 3-0 Sunday.

Glenburn-Old Town plays New Jersey today at 9 a.m.

In Saturday’s game, Morgin Cossar hit a two-run single to pace Glenburn-Old Town. Ashley Goodwin, Amy Singer and Besse singled.

In Sunday’s game, Lindsey Rolfe, Emily Borden and Kelly Grills singled to lead Connecticut.

Hannah Morin hit two singles and a double for Glenburn-Old Town and Amy Singer singled twice.

Baseball

State Tournament, 9-10

Bangor East 13, Scarborough 8

At Lebanon, Justin Courtney homered, doubled and singled to drive in five runs and lead Bangor East past Scarborough Sunday in the 9-10 Baseball State Tournament.

Winslow defeated Kennebunk 3-0 and Scarborough beat Camden-Rockport 7-5 on Saturday. Acadian beat Winslow 15-12 in Sunday’s second game.

Bangor East will play Acadian on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Ryan Moore singled twice and knocked in two runs for Bangor East. Ben Crichton hit an RBI double and Alex Welch doubled.

Nate Wessel led Scarborough with a two-run single and Jack Vincent singled twice.
