BELFAST – A city man was injured on Patterson Hill early Wednesday after leaving his residence after an argument with his girlfriend and crashing his pickup truck into a ditch.

Michael Reynolds, 31, of Patterson Hill Road was taken by ambulance to Waldo County General Hospital and later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor after the 3:30 a.m. accident. Police did not know the extent of his injuries.

Police Chief Jeffrey Trafton said Reynolds and his girlfriend got into an argument when he came home late from a night of card playing at a local veterans club.

“She got upset because she thought he stayed out too long and they got into a fight,” Trafton said. “He left the house, got into his pickup, spun it out and went into a ditch.”

Damage to Reynolds’ 2007 Chevrolet truck was estimated at $5,000. The accident was covered by Officer Michael Rolerson and remains under investigation.
