Puppy, dog training
Green Acres Kennel Shop will be the host for a three-hour puppy and dog training seminar with Joel Walton at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4.
The seminar is for people only.
Walton is the author of “Positive Puppy Training Works” and co-author of “Labrador Retrievers for Dummies.”
He will discuss the proper use of the management, relationship and education system to help new puppy owners solve puppy behavior problems.
Walton began his dog training career in 1986 after 25 years in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard. He now works only with dogs with fearful and aggressive behavior. He works in the Washington, D.C. area, and provides classes and mentoring to positive dog trainers throughout the U.S.
Walton was a founding member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers in 1993 and for seven years managed the association mailing list, helping new trainers increase knowledge and improve skills. In 2001, he became one of the first certified pet dog trainers. Walton and his wife, Janet, live with more than 20 Labrador retrievers in Maryland.
A seat at the seminar may be reserved for a $15 donation to the Bangor Humane Society’s Shed and Emily Fund. To reserve a seat, call 945-6841.
