WINTERPORT – The Winterport Music Festival will be held noon-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Abbott Park Recreational Field, located off of Route 69 on Park Drive. The legendary Maine folksinger Dave Mallett will headline the line-up of performing artists.
Also performing at the festival are:
. The Balkan Women’s Chorus, a group of 15 women who sing Balkan folk songs. It will feature guest artist Elitsa Stoyneva from Bulgaria.
. River Bottom Funk Band, an energetic rhythm and blues band.
. Jump City Jazz Band, a sextet that performs big band jazz and classic jazz.
. Jud Caswell, an up and coming singer songwriter.
. The Dave Wooley Band, a country group performing high energy original country music.
. Souder, Williams and Friends, a classic delta blues group.
. The Adrians, who perform bluegrass and old time country music.
. Big Time, a jazz fusion group featuring Mike Billings.
Food vendors at the festival will be The Sub Shop, Winterport Pizza, Rosie’s, On the Run from RH Foster, Danios, The Jamaican Grille, Ma’s Shaved Ice, Harriman’s Hot Dogs and SeaDog Brewing Co.
Proceeds from the festival fund a scholarship available to a graduating SAD 22 senior who is going on to higher education in the performing arts field. Admission is $5, free to children under 12. Bring a chair.
Town manager Phil Pitula said it takes a committee of 14 and at least 25 volunteers to organize the festival.
