Firearms were stolen from Stonehouse Cafe on Route 2 in Veazie sometime Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, according to Veazie Police Chief Mark Leonard.
Police discovered an open window at the restaurant shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday while doing routine business property checks in the area. Leonard said it appears the suspect or suspects forced their way into the building through the window and left the same way after taking the firearms.
A burglar would have had to know where the firearms were located, Leonard said. Police weren’t saying Wednesday afternoon what kind of weapons were taken.
“Change was strewn around the restaurant, but the cash register was empty and all that was in it was change,” Leonard said.
Orono police assisted Veazie in the investigation by bringing a dog to help search the area, but no arrest was made.
Anyone who has information or saw anything suspicious is asked to call Veazie police at 947-2358. (Aimee Dolloff, BDN)
