Bowhunters

ORLAND – The Bulls-eye Believers are a new, nondenominational, local chapter of the Christian Bowhunters of America. The organization will hold a membership drive and informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at the old Orland town office.

The group consists of archers and bow hunters who want to share their enthusiasm for the sport with others. For information, call 469-8905 or e-mail BullseyeBeliever@aol.com.

State Games of America

SACO – Thirty Maine Games athletes will compete during the State Games of America Aug. 2-5 in Colorado.

The games will be offered by the National Congress of State Games, and are held every other year.

Area athletes scheduled to compete are:

. Edward F. Cotter, bowling, Levant.

. Matthew Cutrufellow, wrestling, Bangor.

. Matthew R. Karnas, wrestling, Brewer.

. Chip Loring, triathlon, Old Town.

. H. Ray Price, triathlon, Glenburn.

Tee Cup golf tournament

The Tee Cup golf tournament for women of Bangor Municipal Golf Course and Penobscot Valley Golf Course will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 14 and 15, rain or shine.

There will be 8 a.m. shotgun starts both days, Aug. 14 at Bangor Muni, Aug. 15 at PVCC.

All four rounds will be net match play – hole-by-hole scoring using handicaps.

At Bangor Muni, there will be a scramble at holes 1-9 and team best ball at holes 10-18.

At PVCC, there will be alternate shot at holes 1-9 and individual best ball at holes 10-18.
