Dale A. Tudor and Maryann Johnson, both of Brewer, recently participated in a three-day leaders conference for selected members of Modern Woodmen of America. The conference took place at the organization’s home office in Rock Island, Ill. Members were invited to learn more on retirement topics and brokerage accounts. Modern Woodmen of America is a fraternal benefit society founded in 1883. The organization offers financial services and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the United States.

Nancy Raye, the former third-generation owner of mustard maker J.W. Raye & Co. Inc. in Eastport, has announced that she is now providing consulting services to businesses. Raye helped the company’s mustard line and customer base grow while winning national quality awards and garnering media attention from BusinessWeek and Martha Stewart Living magazines and Stewart’s television show, according to a press release. While Raye is no longer an owner of Raye’s Mustard Mill, she still serves as a vice president of the company. Raye said she is now offering her skills to other entrepreneurs looking to advance their businesses. Her services include resolving management issues, tax compliance, purchasing, marketing, preparing loan applications, business closure and owner retirement planning. Christie Mahaffey, a dog trainer at Green Acres Kennel Shop in Bangor, recently earned Level I certification through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, an internationally recognized program for pet dog trainers, according to a Green Acres news release. All certified trainers must earn continuing education units to maintain their designations. Mahaffey, a graduate student at the University of Maine, has been teaching dog training classes at Green Acres Kennel Shop since 2002.

Matthew C. Veilleux has joined Excel Computer of Bangor as a system support specialist. “We are lucky to have someone of Matt’s background and expertise come on board,” said Shawn Masterson, a partner with Excel. “Matt is a great fit for us, as we continue to rapidly grow our business.” Veilleux is a 2003 graduate from Eastern Maine Community College, with a degree in computer systems technology. He has more than five years of experience in the technology field. Excel Computer provides long-term IT support services to Maine businesses.
