ELLSWORTH – The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department is looking for the owners of some items it has recovered, according to a sheriff’s deputy.

Officers already know who one of the owners is but don’t know how to contact him, Deputy Jason Lepper said. The department has Samuel Day’s wallet, which was found June 29 in Deer Isle.

The second item is a white canoe found recently beached at Walker’s Pond in Brooksville. Lepper said the canoe would be given back to its rightful owner provided he or she can prove ownership or properly identify some of its distinguishing marks.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department can be reached at 667-7575.
