BANGOR – The Bangor High School girls soccer alumni game will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at the school. The game will consist of two 20-minute halves featuring the current BHS girls varsity squad against alumni.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit the Danielle Marie Thompson Scholarship Fund. The concession stand will open at 5:30 p.m. with hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, sausage, drinks and baked goods available.

Raffle prizes will be drawn and a silent auction conducted. Auction items include jewelry, an overnight stay in a hotel, an autographed baseball, tanning booth time, gym membership, 100 gallons of heating oil and gift cards from area businesses.

The alumni game was established in memory of Thompson, who died Jan. 3 after a brief illness during her senior year at the University of New Hampshire. Thompson was a four-year soccer player and captain of the BHS varsity girls squad.

The cost to participate in the game is $20, which includes a T-shirt. To register, e-mail Kristan Strout at strout@fas.harvard.edu. Make checks payable to Pam Tweedie, c/o Danielle Marie Thompson Scholarship Fund, 21 Fifteenth St., Bangor, ME 04401. For more information, call Tweedie at 947-7245.
