You won’t want to miss the Patten Lumberman’s Museum Bean Hole Bean Day Celebration beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the museum.
The event, in conjunction with Patten’s Pioneer Days, features “authentic bean-hole beans, red hot dogs, coleslaw, boiled lumberman’s coffee, gingerbread from the local kitchens and, of course, the baked-as-you-watch-by-the-open-fire-reflector-oven biscuits,” wrote Rhonda Brophy.
Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors 62 and older; $2 for children under 12, and “buses are welcome,” Brophy added.
Other activities include blacksmith demonstrations, chain-saw carving, horseshoe tossing, scavenger hunts, crafts and music by the RFD Gang.
Readers can purchase signed copies of Randall Probert’s book, “Quandary at Knowles Corner,” tour the museum, visit the gift shop and “enjoy the fun,” Brophy added.

Sara Stitham, donor recruiter for The Maine Blood Center in Bangor, reports you have two opportunities to donate blood this weekend.
The first opportunity is 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Living Innovations, 444 Stillwater Ave., Bangor.
All donors will be part of a raffle, in which you could win one of two $25 Mobil gas cards, Stitham added.
The second opportunity is 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Shaw’s supermarket, 353 Main St., Bangor.
