PORTLAND – Aaron Bates, the California League’s home run leader, has been promoted from Single-A Lancaster to the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs, the Boston Red Sox announced Friday.
Bates, 23, posted a solid .332 batting average with 24 home runs and a .456 on-base percentage in 98 games for the JetHawks this season.
Bates will replace infielder Chad Spann, who is on the disabled list, on the Sea Dogs’ roster.
